Once a user signs out of Cozi on the web, they land here (image directly below) – so what’s wrong? For starters, it says “Hello – and welcome to Cozi!”, this doesn’t inform the user that he/she has signed out which could be unsettling. And secondly, this extra space opens up the opportunity to upsell. Several freemium businesses like Dropbox and Linkedin have already taken advantage of this space for upsell. So why not Cozi?
Below the sign in form I included Cozi's mobile apps across various platforms. Even though I changed the title and cleaned up the sign in form, I realized I didn't want the user's next step to be signing back in.
By removing the sign in form the upsell is front and center. However, I still want to give a user the option to sign back in so that secondary action link is off to the bottom right.
By clicking on any of the devices an lightbox could highlight the feature with a prominent call to action which would lead to the app store. Another option would be to take the user directly to the app store without the lightbox which would leave a user with one less step to downloading the app, but this option doesn't inform the click nearly as well.
And another! Woohoo! Talk about a scalable solution.
